What is a Brake? What is the Purpose of the Braking System?

The braking system is a mechanical system that allows the vehicle to stop safely. It has features with controlled and balanced gliding performances that are put into service by braking the vehicle. The brakes can also be used to give movement to the vehicle. The braking system is an important mechanism used to ensure safe speed control in cars. The main purpose of the braking system is to make regional braking effective and reliable in any situation or condition in which the car is serviced. However, you can also use the brakes to control the rotational movement of the car at the same time. Thanks to this, the car is able to maneuver more easily in the desired direction.

Brake System

The system that provides stopping by converting kinetic energy into thermal energy through friction in a moving vehicle is called a braking system. The only structure that creates friction in the system and converts it into heat energy is the brakes that we know of. By braking too much, the pad warms up and makes a smell. This is because the pads are mixed by direct friction. In addition, the pads are consumable materials that can wear out and need to be replaced over time. If you think about how the command from the foot brake pedal reaches the brake pads, it lies in the "Pascal Principle" discovered by the famous French inventor "Blaise Pascal". According to Pascal's principle, a liquid that cannot be compressed by pressure will move in a different direction under pressure. When we press the brake, the hydraulic oil in the system compresses the pads and wheel discs. Wheels that come into contact with an obstacle also lose speed and brake.
